For Christmas 2009 Brad's sister and her family gave us a puppy! They called and asked if we would want a puppy before they got her for us, and we said we'd give it a shot, but if we didn't like her they would take her. Needless to say, we LOVE her! She is a minature pinscher. She was born Aug 28th 2009. Our neices and nephews named her Nike because she is all black and brown and has a white Nike Swoosh on her chest! Last week my sister Natilee called to ask if Nike could go to "pet day" in Austin's class. I of course agreed and we set the date for tuesday! Tuesday morning rolled around and Seth and Bradey decided that Nike needed to come to their classes if she was going to Austin's. Needless to say Nike had a busy day, but it was a BLAST!

Starting a Blog...Again!

Here's the deal...
I realize that I am HORRIBLE at Blogging! My last post was nearly a year ago! Pathetic, I know! So much has happened this year that the more I think about Blogging, the more overwhelming it seems! It has been an AMAZING year!! The most important event was my wedding! I married the LOVE of my LIFE, Brad, in May of 2009! The motivation I've found to start Blogging again, I owe completely to him! He said to me a while back, "are you ashamed of our marriage?" I couldn't thing of what on earth would provoke him to ask a question like that, so I hesitantly answered, "no....why?" His response..."because you haven't blogged since we got engaged!" Can you say GUILT??? I felt horrible, but quickly reassured him that was ABSOLUTELY NOT the case! To top it off, about a month ago he started his own Blog! Yep, I'm HORRIBLE at Blogging!

First things first... I want my sweetheart to know how much I love him and how amazing this first year has been (even though we're not quite to a year yet)! We have had a blast traveling the world, working on our home, and building our lives together! I couldn't be happier! I love you, babe!

Second... PLEASE, be patient with me. I am going to try to keep up on this better, and hopefully catch up on some events of the last year as able.

Here goes....
This weekend has been AWESOME! Brad and I were recently able to coordinate our schedules so we can have 6 days of work, then 8 days off! HEAVEN! This has been our weekend off! We are in the process of booking a trip to Disneyland with Brad's family. I am SO excited! I love Disneyland and it's been at least a couple of years since I was there! We were able to have our nephew Chase come stay with us last night. We invited a couple of Brad's siblings and their kids to come have a game night! It was a BLAST, and thanks to my sisters I made 'ranger danger' cookies and they were delish!! Today we went to church (a little late) and had a GREAT lesson in Sunday school and a pretty entertaining testimony meeting. Nothing crazy, just lots of cute kiddos in our ward that make us laugh! When we got home from church we made 'breakfast' for lunch! We had french toast, bacon, and OJ! I took some 'ranger dangers' over to my cute little neighbor girl that got baptized yesterday, then had movie night!
Here is the cool story of the night...we were starving after the movie so I attempted to make my first home made lazagna. As I was preparing, I realized that we used all of the bread for french toast earlier, so we couldn't have french bread! I was pretty embarassed to serve JUST lazagna and corn, but it happens! Just as the timer rang to take dinner out of the oven, the doorbell rang too. It was my cute neighbor bringing me a loaf of home made bread! Seriously, not that big of a deal, but I almost cried! We love our neighbors so much and we are so lucky to be where we are!! And dinner turned out WAY better than I expected!

The Engagement!

Toward the end of February, Brad and I were quickly coming to the realization that working opposite shifts and trying to work overtime meant that our time together was few and far between. Brad called one day toward the end of the week and asked what my schedule was for the upcoming week which would be the first week of March. We soon decided that Thursday March 5th would be the only day we could see each other that week. He said, "lets go somewhere Wednesday night and hang out Thursday then." I rarely turn down a get-a-way, so I jumped on the opportunity. He then asked if I wanted to help him plan it, or if I wanted it to be a surprise. I tell him all the time that I love surprises, so of course I wanted it to be a surprise! Next, he asked if I just wanted him to surprise me with telling me our destination, or if I wanted to be blindfolded for the drive and be surprised when we got there. Of course I chose the second option...it sounded way more fun!! He told me Monday that I needed to pack a bag by Tuesday night because he knew I had to work all day Wednesday and he wanted to leave as soon as I could get home from work Wednesday night.

At this point I was pretty sure he had something big up his sleeve. I thought FOR SURE it was the engagement, but I didn't want to spoil the fun, and I wanted him to know how excited I was!

By Wednesday I think my excitement was overly apparent and he found a way to calm me down. He called me at work and said, "so where did you want to go tomorrow?" I was crushed! I said "I thought you were planning a surprise?" He said "I was, but I can't find anything to do. Any suggestions?" I couldn't believe I had my hopes up so high and he SO wasn't on the same page I was! Once I thought about it, I convinced myself that he had just called and said that because he wanted to throw me off. I figured that if I got home from work and he was acting funny (like nervous, or anxious) I would know that SOMETHING was still up. To say the least, I got home from work and he was as calm as I have ever seen him! My mom had made dinner and he told me to sit down and eat, and we could just go whenever I was ready! What the heck??? I was so baffled!

When we finally decided to leave, he asked again if I was sure I wanted to wear a blindfold, or if I wanted him to just tell me where we were going. I again opted for the blindfold just for the humor of the situation. We stopped at the gas station by my house (he was kind enough to let me use the restroom before I had to attempt it blind folded later) to get gas and drinks and off we went! These are some pictures of the initial part of the drive:

In Brad's defense, this wasn't illegal yet...

He drove in circles for long enough that I was totally turned around when we were finally making progress toward the destination. I stayed awake for about an hour talking with him, but then I dozed off. When I finally woke up it was about 10:00pm and he said we still had 20 min before we got there. He started saying he thought we were lost and all he could see was tractors! Next thing I knew we were on turning onto a dirt road! I actually asked him at that point if this was going to turn out like a bad nightmare! All I could think of is how we were hours away and down some dirt road and NOBODY knew where we were! (One too many scary movies)

Next thing I knew he stopped and said "I'm going to go check in, you stay here." I sat in the car wondering where in the world we could be. He came back out and said "I'm ticked! They gave our reservation away! Since it's so late they didn't think we were coming, so they gave it away!" I was almost speechless! What do we do? He then piped up and said "they have one more room available, but the guy at the desk wants us to look at it before we reserve it because it might not be what we are looking for. He wants us to drive down to the room and he will walk down and unlock it for us." I was scared and confused and I really didn't know what to think! Brad parked the car again and said "I'll go in and check it out. Oh and by the way, this guy said we are not supposed to drink the tap water. If we need drinking water, drink out of the small blue taps next to the main faucets. He said he would leave us some directions though, so I think we can figure it out." So, there I sat in the car... again...wondering what in the world was going on!

Brad finally came out and got me. He told me this room was just going to have to do. He led me into the room and sat me on one of the beds and said, "ok, I'm going to go pay for the room. You stay here. When I close the door, you can take off your blindfold and see if you can figure out those instructions he was talking about." I heard the door close and I took off my blind fold. There in front of me was my laptop with a note on it that said "JUST PUSH PLAY!"

I hit the play button and this is what I saw:

At the end of the video, he said "don't answer that yet, I have to bribe you some more..." He left and came back with a huge beautiful bouquet of red roses! It was GORGEOUS! Then, he said "one more thing... " and left again. He came back with a little black box and got down on one knee and SAID as he opened the box to show me the most beautiful diamond ring EVER, "so, will you??" I THOUGHT he said, "I love you!" So I said, "I love YOU!" He looked at me with a VERY CONFUSED LOOK! He thought a "but" was coming out next. I couldn't tell what was going on till he said, "IT WAS A YES OR NO QUESTION, CALLIE!!! YES OR NO???" I said, "well YES!! OF COURSE!!" He was relieved!! Slight confusion at a very inopportune time!!! But it made for a funny story!!

These are some pics of us the next morning. We were in Moab at the Red Cliffs Lodge. A place the two of us had stayed just over two years ago for a Valentines Day trip. It was perfect! I couldn't ask for anything more! Thanks to my sweetheart who I LOVE SO MUCH!

Kellen's Mission Call

I know I'm slow at updating my blog, but in my defense, I have been slightly distracted with other events in my life! (More to come)

On Feb 19th my cute little cousin (yeah, I can still say that) Kellen received his mission call. These are some pics and a video from the big white envelope opening party!

Valentine's Day Cookies

I told my mom the other day that I was really craving pink sugar cookies for Valentine's Day. It didn't help that, on the refrigerator, we have pictures of my nephews decorating their Valentine's Day cookies from last year. So, every time I'm feeling hungry and walk to the fridge... there are these pictures staring me down! Tonight my mom and I talked Michelle into letting her boys stay the night at grandmas house. What better time than now, with my 2 cute nephews, to make cookies!!! YUM!!!

Baja California / Mexico Cruise

In the shuttle on our way to the airport.

Playing Hearts outside the resturant! A 45 min wait is nothing when you have good weather, good company and a deck of cards!

The beloved lifejacket drill and the view from the lifeboat deck we were stuck on! That's the Queen Mary and LA is in the background.
Catalina Island Harbor and a Bird of Paradise (one of my favorite flowers).

We did a whale watching shore excursion. We saw 3 grey whales and these sea lions. We did see one of the whales jump up out of the water, but none of us were armed with our cameras yet!
Formal night. Brad's dad won BINGO! That little card was worth $500!
This picture is more for a teaching moment than a cultural display...I want Kristen and Angela to take notes from the small cardboard sign. Maybe next time we go to a spanish speaking country we will know that "propina" means "tip"... not "tax". It should save us a few bucks!
Everyone standing around El Bufadora in Ensenada, Mexico waiting for it to blow. If we look less than impressed...it's because we were! No action with low tide!
My dad and I collecting sand dollars!
Our ship and the sunset at Ensenada, Mexico.
All of us after we got off of the ship. Yeah it was pouring rain outside!
At Huntington Beach. Savvy...that's a horrible pic of me, but I love you that much!
